Wonderful gift for Orthodox Christians

Published by Ancient Faith Publishing in Chesterton, Indiana, this 2014 Icon Calenar; Parables and Miracles of Christ, features 'icons by the hand of Dmitry Shkolnik'. The uniformity of style and color used throughout the icons in this calendar are wonderful. Each month you are offered an artist's rendering of things like: "The Miraculous Catch of Fish" or "The Ten Lepers".
Saint's days, fast and feast days as well as Orthodox holidays are on the calendar. I liked how it even includes what food items are permitted on specific fast days (ie: fish, oil).
A beautiful gift for my husband who as a Russian, being raised in the faith from birth, still adheres to its traditions and takes great comfort in items like this one.
I think even those who are not Orthodox but whom appreciate iconography will enjoy this calendar. My only wish is that it was printed on a a bit heavier cardstock, but that's a small issue and not worthy of reducing the star rating in my opinion.
NOTE: This is an OCA (Orthodox Church of America) calendar, using December 25th as Christmas versus January 7th.

Beautiful and Detailed

I like the focus of this calendar. It's different to have one person's work featured. There are many fabulous icon painters right now. It's nice to see their work featured sometimes. I still love the really ancient Byzantine icons, so I hope more calendars will feature them. I'm a bit new to loving icons and would love to have more large prints of the old ones.
